What is BalanceWear?

BalanceWear® is a non-invasive, wearable “counter-balancing” balance and postural control stabilizing orthosis indicated for individuals with balance and mobility issues. Many individuals with mobility, postural control, lumbar and / or torso stabilization difficulties frequently have balance problems.

Balance disorders are a result of many conditions including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, ataxia, infirmity, and stroke. The company’s patented Balance-Based Torso-Weighting® (BBTW®) was developed to provide help to patients with a variety of mobility disorders including balance problems.

BalanceWear was invented by a physical therapist after a series of observations during her work with patients suffering postural instability and balance problems. Cindy Gibson Horn, PT created BalanceWear for patients challenged with abnormal mobility or postural control issues. She created and developed the patented balance assessment technique program known as Balance-Based Torso-Weighting® (BBTW®) and the patented product known as BalanceWear.

If you are interested learning if BalanceWear is right for you, talk to your doctor. For insurance reimbursement, you will need a prescription for an assessment by a physical or occupational therapist trained in BBTW. After an assessment by a trained professional, you will know immediately if BalanceWear works for you. If your assessment results are positive, a BalanceWear vest designed specifically for you is ordered. BalanceWear also requires a physician prescription.
